Singapore like most other countries has an acute shortage of nurses in all disciplines.
The process of working in Singapore though, is different from the other countries that Clinical One deals with.
Firstly you cannot apply directly to the Singapore Nursing Board. A position of employment has to be secured first and then the prospective employer will provide you all the forms necessary for registration with the Nursing Board.
In order to work in Singapore you will require a work visa. There are several different visa options available and the type of visa you would be eligible for will depend on several factors:
- Length of contract
- Salary threshold
- Experience
- Qualifications
The employer will decide on what type of visa you need to apply for and will provide the necessary documents for visa registration.
You are not eligible to apply for any kind of work permit until you have a signed employment contract in your possession from your employer in Singapore
There are NO working holiday visas in Singapore.

Rates of Pay
Each facility in Singapore in both the public and private sector has their own salary scales. There is no government award system for salaries so rates can vary greatly from place to place.
Pay rates are determined on your qualifications, your experience and also your area of expertise.
An average salary would be around $1800-2500(Sing) per month for a nurse with 3 years post grad experience.
Accommodation
Most facilities in Singapore do not provide accommodation and if they are able to do so, it is only for the initial 3-4 weeks of a contract, you would then be expected to provide your own.
It is advisable to have a substantial amount of money saved to cover hotel accommodation, rent, bond and furnishing expenses.
Most private rentals require a month's rent and two months bond in advance. Rents can vary drastically depending on where you live and whether your apartment is furnished or not.
The starting price for rentals is around $1500 per month upwards.
